Like many of you I was a child of the 90s. 1993 was the year that first started caring about fashion, hair, makeup, and style. It was the height of grunge.
I owned more plaid print shirts, ripped jean shorts, baby doll dresses, and doc martens than I care to admit. I even had a “boyfriend” in 7th grade who thought he was a mini Kurt Cobain. I thought we were so cute.
I wish I had picture to show you of me in this era. I'll have to dig up those "awkward teen years" pics next time I go home. Ha!
Although I was no Angela Chase, I did have a huge crush on Jordan Catalano. (gosh, I loved the teen-angst-ridden show, "My My So-Called Life", didn't you?)
I’m calling it now. Grunge. Is. Coming. Back. Grunge emerged out of the early 90s recession, and the same pattern is starting to repeat itself.
As the current 80s trend is waning we’re moving from this:
And apparently I’m not the only one I’m not the only one. See here, here, and here.
Celebs are already getting into it... check out Taylor Momsen rocking the grunge look with an oversized plaid shirt, messed-up hair and micro miniskirt.
Obviously grunge clothing was tied to the music of the era. Well grunge is even making a comeback in music. Has anyone heard “Panic Switch” by Silversun Pickups on any rock stations lately? The sound of that song definitely takes me back to my teen years.
I think that if grunge does make a comeback, it may be a little cuter this time around (let's hope!). Check out this shirt I just found at Forever21.com:
Ohh and a cute Baby Doll dress:
The return of grunge... are you anxiously awaiting it? Or dreading it?
