Thanks for the welcome to California as well! I have really enjoyed being here. It is very different than Arkansas! =)

Okay so I had to share with you about our pets in our family. While we were dating my husband gave me one of the kittens from his cat. So we have two cats-mom and baby. I was a little nervous about them living together when we got married because they didn't seem to like each other when they had little visits. Anyway, they are best friends now. They have so much fun together. I think one of the funniest things is to see how we "parented" them so differently. His cat reacts very quickly to discipline and mine well, she takes her own time. They have very different personalities too. My cat is so much more of a lap kitty and his isn't as much. Just by raising these cats apart from each other before marriage and now raising them together I can see that our parenting styles are very different. He is very strict and I am just a little soft hearted. He can lock them up in their cage when they are in trouble and leave them for a while, I can lock them up for a little bit and then say okay they can come out now! It should be interesting when it comes to raising kids! I agree that cats are so much easier to leave than dogs. We would love a dog, but I know that would require so much more work-especially living in an apartment.

He is such a cute kitten! Great name too!Robin and Stephenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17346590989169611772noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3972051150902313067.post-52078493959450788562009-04-29T20:28:00.000-07:002009-04-29T20:28:00.000-07:00Growing up, I always had cats and my hubby had a d...Growing up, I always had cats and my hubby had a dog for a little while. Shortly after we started dating, my hubby got a cat and then a year later I got my first cat. It wasn't actually my first, but my first pet after moving out of my parents house. You know what I mean :) Anyway, we still have them 6 years later and they are like our children! We love them so much! I love dogs, but they are much more troublesome if you travel a lot. With cats, they pretty much take care of themselves because you don't have to be home to take them out to the bathroom, they will eat when they are hungry, and they clean themselves! When we go out of town for 3 days or so, we just leave out extra food, water, and a clean litter box and they are fine.

I don't really know if they changed our relationship because our pets have pretty much been there from the beginning of us dating, but I could see where it might!

Enjoy your new kitty! He keeps telling me that as soon as we move out of our tiny apartment, that is number 2 on his list of things to get (number 1 being a big screen tv). And I keep telling him that I'm not restricting my traveling until we have kids. I wouldn't say it has really changed our relationship but it does make things a bit more difficult, like when friends want us to come stay for the weekend and whatnot, luckily we have some "doggy grandparents" that like her to visit once and awhile.... although it is frustrating when we make plans and forget about what we are doing with the dog until the very last minute!!Seashells&Sunshinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08901773899083159386noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3972051150902313067.post-70787929114185329172009-04-28T19:09:00.000-07:002009-04-28T19:09:00.000-07:00Your kitten is so cute and tiny! I had my cat ...Congratulations on your new edition! I had my cat before we got married. I wasn't much on an animal person, but her previous owner died and I knew she was a sweet lap cat. My husband (then boyfriend) complained nonstop about the shedding before we got married. I was very worried that when we got married he would not want the cat in our home. However, now that we live together he ADORES the cat--goes to find her as soon as we get home, plays with her, and she's always on his lap. Sometimes I'm almost jealous! One thing I would recommend is that you don't let him sleep in your bed. That was a rule my husband made (he's slightly allergic) and we've stuck to it religiously. When I was single she slept snuggled right up next to me every night, but I am glad we keep our bedroom door shut now. Congratulations again!

PS--I hear you on the dog idea--way too much responsibility!Crystalnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3972051150902313067.post-42800065485398613332009-04-28T15:11:00.000-07:002009-04-28T15:11:00.000-07:00He's so sweet! Sometimes he stands there and whines--mood killer. haha! Other than that it has worked out really well. We talk about our dog a lot, but it is fun for us. We say to eachother every night how we couldn't have imagined our lived before him. Sounds totally cheesy, but I just love seeing my husband always asking "Where's Alvin?" We ...Congrats on the new additon! I love animals. We got a dog about a month after we got married (which was almost four years ago now), and we have loved every mintue with her. I always had a dog growing up and really wanted one, and my husband decided it would be good for me to have a companion when he wasn't around (especially since he had and still has a lot of evening classes). She is a dog, not a dog "person" but we do call each other mommy and daddy to her. However, she is a dog in all other respects. She caused a little stress when we first got her because she ended up costing us almost $1,000 the first couple of weeks (if you count the apartment pet deposit). She got sick with a cough and got tapeworm, and she was only at the humane society for two days before we took her home! Anyway, luckily she got well and has been a great source of joy and laughter in our house since. Just last night we spent probably a while just being entertained while playing with her. I think they are positive addition if you are both on board for it!
