I'm sure many of you also read Kelly's Blog, Kelly's Korner.
So if you do, you'll know that Kelly is currently on a Compassion trip to El Salvador where she's live blogging all about her trip and the children who are being helped by Compassion.

Her posts like this one moved my heart so much that I talked to the Mr and prayed about us sponsoring a child.
And I'm happy to report... that we have decided to sponsor a 6 year girl from El Salvador named Gloria!
Compassion Sponsors help children who live in extreme poverty to receive food, clothing, medical help, education, social skill development, and spiritual guidance. Compassion is a highly regarded charity that is professionally audited and ensures that 83 cents of every dollar you donate goes directly to your sponsored child.
I can't wait to get my starter package from Compassion and start writing to Gloria!

I had a Filipino "son" for several years named Rico de la Rosa through Compassion. He ended up getting kicked out of the program for running and underground gambling ring in his elementary school. Sounds about right for a son of mine...
This is such a great cause! :)
I've been reading Kelly's blog too and have been in tears every day!! The hubs and I talked to our kids last night at dinner about sponsoring a child.
Such a great cause...
We were inspired as well, and adopted a three year old little girl! I haven't even gotten the package in the mail but went out and got "things" to send her (printed bandaids, stickers, etc.) Such a great program!
Good for you! Luke and I talk about this often and plan to do it, we just need to take the next step and do it now! Thanks for reminding us all of this!
What a beautiful thing to do. We all should be doing things like this. Good for you.
WOW what a great thing to be a part of!

I think this is awesome of you! The hubs and I have talked about this, but need to actually sit down and do something about it. Way to go girl!
Don't even remember how I stumbled across your blog but I'm glad I did! What a great idea!
Yes! I was also led to sponsor a child from following Kelly's Korner blog! My husband and I chose Arvin, a 17 year-old boy from the Phillippines! Your little girl is precious! Best wishes!
let us know how it goes..would be interested..
So awesome!! Compassion is a wonderful organization!
This is so awesome!!! Can't wait to hear your experience!
i used to co-sponsor a little girl from bolivia. when i graduated college and lost touch with my co-sponsor, i've also lost touch with the cutest little girl ever. this is a great reminder for me to start up another sponsorship!!
How funny that you posted this, I have a post in draft form that I've been meaning to post for months now about the little boy in Ethiopia we sponsor through Compassion! Some of our friends have MET the kids they sponsor!
I sponsor a girl from India through Compassion - and although I have only gotten one letter between April and now I still feel hopeful that she's living a little happier because of the programs and support that Compassion is providing!
