I'm still working on getting together the wedding recap post from my Brother-in-Law's wedding. But I wanted to share a couple of things first...
1st - The gift!
Thanks for all of your advice on what to add to the Newlywed Survival Kit wedding gif!
I ended up adding a couple of games that I knew they wanted to add a little more fun to gift! I wanted to add a bottle of wine too, but I know she's not a big drinker so I skipped that.
Here's the final contents of the gift:
Cookbook, devotional, Dave Ramsey book, Bar Keeper's Friend, Skip-Bo, Phase 10, and Calphalon dish towel.
And here's how it looked all packaged up in a very functional gift bag (a cleaning bucket!)
I wrote out a explanation of the gift that you can read here. I hope they loved this gift as much as I did.
2nd - My trip to the ER.
As luck would have it, it turned out that a friend of the Mr's from High School was also getting married on the same night in Portland as his brother! Since Brother-in-Law's wedding ended early we had time to visit the other wedding, which was so much fun!
Well, toward the end of the night my feet were really hurting, so I decided to take off my shoes to dance (dumb!). I guess someone had broken a glass and I ended up cutting my foot really bad on the broken glass. It just kept bleeding and bleeding (so gross), so we decided to go to the ER to see if I needed stitches.
So two hours and several hundred dollars later, I left the Downtown Portland ER with seven stitches in my big toe. :(
The worst part was that I didn't get to go skiing on Mt. Hood because my foot hurt too bad and I didn't want to injure it more. Giant bummer!
The moral of the story -- always bring sandals to change into!

What a great gift idea!!
That sucks about your toe! Hopefully it feels better soon!
Oh BTW, pop on over to my blog, I am doing a give away for a piece of jewelry that my sister makes to one of my lucky followers! Good luck!!
I love that gift basket! I have a few weddings coming up this summer and will def be more creative as you were.
Cute gift. And you poor thing, that sucks. That happened to my cousin once too. :( Hope it heals quick!
Love that newlywed gift...tooo cute! :)
WOW! Too much ER for you lately between your fall at home and then this.
Be careful sweetie! Love that idea for the kit! Might steal it!
I've been to a couple of weddings where they actually have a basket of flip flops for guests to wear and take home with them! Such a cute idea.

I like the survival kit.
One of the cutest presents we got was from my Sister in law and brother.
It was an emergency fund/picture frame… {I loved it}
on no, friend! that is a huge bummer! you need another vacation! :) cute and great gift! and how fun that you got to go by the other wedding too! minus the mishap ;) hugs!
I am in love with the Newlywed Survival Kit. So much so that I might have to borrow that idea. The items you put in there are perfect!
So sorry to hear about your toe. I hope it's not too painful and heals quickly!
Love love LOVE that newlywed survival kit - such a fun idea!
And omg about your toe - I always dance with my shoes off... but this might have me changing my mind!
The wedding gift is perfect!!!
As for the shoes, it is a tradition (a recent one) down here in Brazil, it is offer to women at wedding parties, white flip-flops with the bride and groom initials or plain white flip-flops. So women can dance safely with no shoes on ; )
Oh, the last comment was me..... with another account.
What a great gift! Hope your toe is feeling better! I wish they wouldn't use glass cups at weddings to serve alcohol. Someone always drops one!
I had no idea that's what you needed stitches. That's kind of scary because I'm always taking my shoes of at places like that. Now I'm going to be paranoid about stepping on glass. Yikes!
oh your poor foot!! I hope you are feeling better!!!
Uh oh! Feel better soon, my dear! That's no fun to have to skip skiing!
Survival kit is adorable! Love that idea. Bummer about the stitches! No fun; especially on vacation!
Oh my gosh! That happened to someone at MY wedding! Apparently the hotel medic got her all taken care of, and they didn't tell me until after she was all stitched and bandaged - I had no idea, and felt so bad! What was more funny was that she kept dancing on it!
Holy Cow! Hope you are feeling better now. Stitches in the feet are the worst. I had a similar thing happen but it was in my own kitchen. I had to have my Dad take me to the ER because I couldn't drive.
Great idea for a Newlywed Gift!!! May have to steal this one some day soon. :)
I think that gift is genius and adorable! Oh no, that's awful about your foot and not being able to go skiing! Feel better and thank you for all the advice on Long Beach! Maybe we'll meet up sometime once I'm out there!
