Oh The Places You'll Go

The most frequent advice I've gotten as a newlywed is, "travel, travel, travel! Because once you have kids, you just don't have a much freedom and money and won't be able to travel."

(For the record, I'm not 100% sure that I agree with that statement because I was super blessed to have amazing parents who took me all over the country and world. I got to go to some really many amazing places with them by tagging along on their business and personal travels. I personally feel that this was one huge benefit of being an only child. Anyway, I digress...)

But I can definitely see what people mean about kids limiting your travel opportunities, so lately I've been thinking about where we need to go before babies enter the picture.

To aid me in my travel planning I mapped out the US states and the countries that I visited.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that I have visited a majority of US states...

Clearly I'm missing a whole swath of of the South. I'd really like to visit Louisiana and the Carolinas soon, so those are on the top of my US states list.

I was very fortunate when I was young and got to do some amazing vacations with my parents to various parts of the world...

Countries I have not been to that I'd like to visit: Netherlands, Greece, Italy, Germany, Turkey, Israel, Egypt, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Fiji, New Zealand, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Kenya, Seychelles, and the Virgin Islands.

I'm happy to announce that in about ten weeks I'll be crossing two of these countries off of my list! Can you guess which ones?

What countries, states, or places are on your must-do list?

Oh my goodness, you've been ALL over! I am amazed at how little red there is on those maps! I am pretty jealous!

We're traveling overseas this summer, and I might just be coming to you when I have questions! You are well traveled :)

Wow! To be able to say that you have been to all those places is incredible! I would love to visit Germany. My brother is stationed in Germany right now and he said it's beautiful. In the U.S. I would love to go to Alaska because that is where my grandma is from.

I have too been fortunate, but I still have some places high on my priority list.
I am only missing Hi., AK, CA, OR, WA, and ME for states. And I really would not mind a visit to Hawaii, Maine or Alaska (Summertime only PLEASE), sometime soon.
As far as countries, I would love to visit Canada, Argentina, Greece, New Zealand and Australia. I have hit most of the places in Europe with a few places I would not mind going back.

When I was a year old my parents decided to take me to Europe. Probably not the easiest trip to Europe they've ever taken, but it can be done.

As to countries I'd like to visit my top three are probably Greece, Egypt, and Australia.

Just found your blog, and I too am a Southern CA newlywed, although we're transplanted here!

It's looks like you've been some amazing places! What website did you use for the maps?

wow girl! I am impressed by your travels. The only country I have been (besides the caribbean on cruises) is Cananda. And that's only because it's my neighbor. That's awesome that you've been to so many places at such a young age!

I have a pretty lengthy to-go list...but my top places are Ireland, London and Greece. It might be awhile before we make it, but we will get there eventually!

I love traveling and seeing new places! We've been to London and Scotland and we LOVED it! I've been to Israel (when I was much younger) but we definitely want to go together. I can't wait to hear where you are traveling. When are you coming back to the east coast?! oh and we're probably coming to Carlsbad/San Diego at the end of March/early April!

Go to South Carolina and Greece. I was born and raised in the Carolina's and there is nothing prettier than Charleston. Also, we went on our honeymoon in Greece and it was amazing. Go to the islands! As many as you can!

Wow, you have done a fair amount of traveling.

I LOVE traveling but have found myself going back to the same places instead of going to new places! I really want to go to Greece and Italy!

Wow, and I thought I traveled a lot! ;) (My father worked for "Airline Company" and so my sister and I fly free anywhere we want for life!) I can definitely appreciate your "lessons learned" when flying--I've picked up a few myself! Don't you just love flying, though? I love the business of airports and the actual traveling to new places. :D That's so awesome that you get to do it as part of your job, though!
