Too Much Tracking?

I'm worried that I'm accidently becoming obsessive about tracking my life and everything in it.

As you know I track every dollar we spend and all of our finances in a giant spreadsheet.

And you know that I use natural family planning and track my fertility.

Well, recently I discovered Fertility Friend online and mobile. It's amazing! So much easier than the paper charts I'd always forget to write on. Now I'm a little bit obsessed. I can't stop looking at my charts and entering data pieces.

And recently I rejoined Weight Watchers online (girlfriend needs to loose 15 lbs) and I'm tracking everything I eat and drink.

I love the new points system and I love Weight Watcher Mobile because I eat out a lot and can check the points values on my phone.

But I wonder if this is all too much? I mean every day there is record of every food I eat, every dollar I spend, and everything my body does. It's a bit insane.

But I love it.

I'm not a good person to ask because I track everything too!! (LOVE fertility friend!!) I think that if it is information that helps- then it is great to do it! Not everyone's mind is made like that, but if it helps you then keep DOING IT! If it seems like too much and stresses you out then stop.

I love tracking everything :)

I see no problem in tracking things! I think that is great. That way, when something comes flying at you, you're already aware of it!

And girl, you don't need to lose any weight! You look great!! :)

I also love tracking. I have a budget spreadsheet for my household expenses and I track what I eat with SparkPeople. WW is a great program, I lost with the old program but not with this new one...after 3 months, I decided to try tracking on my own again. Spark is free and after one week of Spark tracking I've losing again.

I was wondering if you use an online budget tracker? If so which one:-) I want to start tracking our budget too since we have baby on the way and are buying a house (in CA) which as you know is so expensive!

I'm a tracker too. Not so much with money but fertility and weight.
We recently bought the Clear Blue Easy fertility monitor! Not cheap!
On the 2nd month with it now. I'll let you know how it turns out! Keep your fingers crossed!

I'm not obsessive about tracking everything but I do get a little nutty about knowing what's going on with my fertility. We're still several months out from TTC, and I already track my cycle with the ClearBlue fertility monitor and the premium period tracker i-phone app. This is the first month I have used the ClearBlue monitor and I am secretly nervous It will tell me that I'm not ovulating (I have zero reason to worry about ovulation problems except, as you said, my own paranoia). I'm so crazy I need a device to definitively TELL me that I'm ovulating normally. Ha. Gatta love being a woman.

LOVE the WW app. It gets me through the day and helps me get out of binds at restaurants or the market! : )

I wish I could track my spending better...as I've said before, you are an inspiration in that!!!

I am the same way! OBSESSIVE about tracking almost everything!

I have a fertility tracker on my phone too! I'm always entering things, changing colors, the layout.. just obsessing on it in general. :-) I am Type A too when it comes to being organized and always knowing what is going on! I need a better system for tracking money though, we went so over budget this month! I'm blaming it on buying our house and me needing "grown up decor" to go in the "grown up house." that is a valid reason, right??

Oh I didn't know about the fertility tracker....good to know! The paper charts are a pain.

This cracks me up! I think I am like this with some things and not others. Some people's (mostly women's, I think) brains are just wired that way. It makes you feel secure to know everything is cruising along as it's supposed to. It does me anyway! Happy tracking!

I think if it makes you feel better about everything in your life then that's great! Keep doing it! If you feel like keeping track is getting to you then take a break for awhile!

I have an iPhone and use the iPeriod app. It tracks symptoms and fertility and cycles and everything. It's awesome!

I LOVE Excel!! My husband and I have a crazy budget sheet too. And you should've seen my wedding sheet and all it's tabs :) Glorious! I also do WW Online and love the new points system! So, you're not the only one who tracks everything :)

That is a lot of tracking. I would never be detailed enough to track my fertility. Not even a little bit.

I imagine someday when we are ready to start a family I will be motivated enough to do it. But I could never do it now.
