- The dinner party on Saturday was huge success! I have fully redeemed myself from my cooking failures. Our guests loved everything and even complemented my cooking skills! The gazpacho (cold soup) was huge hit. The Mr. did a great job on the steaks over arugula. And the mini-pots of chocolate dessert was ah-mazing. I officially love that William-Sonoma cookbook. In all the stress of cooking I didn't take any pictures, but this is what the gazpacho looked like.
- USC Trojans lost to Washington. I almost cried. That's all I want to say about that.
- On Saturday night the Mr. slammed his hand in the door out to our condo balcony. He cut his finger really bad I'm we're pretty sure he fractured the top bone of his finger. We tried to go to the emergency room at 11:30 PM on Saturday night and the wait there was over 3 hours (there was also a crazy man in the waiting room barking like dog. I heart LA). Since we figured he didn't need stitches for the cut and since doctors can't do much for a broken finger, we immediately left and just went to Rite Aid to buy a finger splint. Poor guy.
- Like millions of other Americans we are officially "underwater" on our home loan. But we confirmed can't refinance to a lower interest rate through the government bailout plans, because we haven't missed any payments. I find that very ironic.
- I got my annual bonus today! Too bad taxes ate over 1/2 of it. Don't you hate that about bonuses?
- In less than four weeks we will be BOSTON! I'm so excited for our week vacation to New England!
Ok that's enough randomness for now. How was your weekend?

Yay congrats on the successful dinner! and I think we need the chocolate dessert recipe! Poor Hubby, I hope his finger is feeling better! I hear you on the refinancing and the bonuses, crazy! and yay for a vaca, that's so exciting!
The dinner sounds great! So does a week vacation, now that you mention it :) Have a great trip!
Have fun on your vacation! I could desperately use one of those... sigh..
Your dinner party sounds like it went well and so delicious! Just an FYI from a New Englander... it's getting so cold here already! 40 degrees when I woke up this morning means pack warm for your trip!
We are going to Boston for the first time in the spring. You'll have to give some tips about where you go (esp. restaurants). I'm clueless. We'll be spending some time with family but will also have time on our own.
Sounds like a very eventful weekend! Sorry to hear about your Mr's hand! OUCH!
Poor guy!
I'm going to have to make the chocolate dessert!
oh man, I bet the ER in LA is QUITE a sight!! Hope his finger is okay!! Yay for cooking yummie food :) Congrats on the bonus!
So glad it was a success!!!
Do not get my started on how ridiculous it is that the people who get help on their mortgage are the ones who made bad decisions (for the most part) in the first place. I get the whole predatory lending argument, but we ended up losing so much money on our townhouse b/c we had the money in the bank. Had we been irresponsible, they would have bailed us out. Argh!
Damn taxes!! That sucks about your home loan. I swear, your damned if you and your damned if you don't! Sorry about USC, even though I cheered when they lost...I know, I'm a bad sport, hook em horns! ;) Sorry about your husbands finger, ouch!!
Taxes! Sometimes I think if I actually made what I actually make - you know, before taxes - I'd have so few money concerns!
That's great! I'm glad it was a success! I've never been to Boston, you'll have to take tons of pictures!
YAY! Glad the dinner party was a success and CONGRATS on the bonus!!
So glad the dinner party went well!!!
Yeah, it stinks that people who've been responsible can't refinance and those that haven't been can. We're in the same boat.
Glad some nice people are still getting bonuses. We aren't even getting pay increases this year. Oh well, I have a job...
Glad your dinner went well.
That is exactly why I hate taxes... They take all the fun out of bonuses.
Glad your dinner party was a smash! : )
Sad and fun weekend rolled into one! :) Glad the dinner party was great and I'm sad I won't be seeing you tomorrow but alas, we will get together soon!
This is such an awesome blog...I am so glad I found it. I am a newlywed too, and have been writing about it on my blog. Glad to follow along! :)
Ugh, I got my bonus too. A whopping 40% of what the actual payment was going to be, since we have both 401k and taxes taken out.
What are you going to spend yours on?
We just figured out our condo is underwaters as well. Ugh. I totally know how you feel.
I grew up in the Boston area and it is one of my favorite cities. You two are going to have a wonderful time!
