Nose Dive!

So I've been wanting to recap my Utah trip, but first I had to share my crazy injury that I got on over the weekend...

(picture taken yesterday AM after the Dr. No makeup. Keepin' it real)

Nope I didn't fall on a double black diamond on the slopes. I feel into the dresser in my bedroom! It was the middle of the night and I got up to go the bathroom and tripped.

Yup... skiing = easy... walking in the dark back at home = difficult. In short, I am a klutz.

I went to urgent care and they sealed my nose with glue stitches (but not before asking me a bajillion questions about how this happend with the subtext of "does your husband beat you?").

Now I'm feeling fine but looking pretty awful.

Here's how I looked before work this AM...

I'm really afraid of scarring though. Has anyone had any success with Medera or other scar-removing solutions?

Ouch ouch ouch! That's awful! The best thing for scarring is to keep it moist and let it heal (and not pick at it). I've never had much luck with any scar stuff.... other than just leaving it alone and letting it heal!

I would totally tell everyone you injured yourself hitting the slopes... very badass.

Ouch! I was in Utah last week too!

I've had a couple doctors tell me to use Mederma! They said they've seen great results with it.

Ouch! Never tried Mederma but have heard vitamin E works... Hope it heals fast!

Hi - I had tons and tons of cuts all over my face from a car accident where the windshield literally wrapped itself around my face (not pleasant!). You can't even tell now - what my dermatologist recommended was Aquaphor healing ointment - best thing ever, I even use it on paper cuts now and I swear they heal more quickly (not that I'm a doctor, just my perception).

Oh no! I'm so sorry! That sounds horrible! Hope your nose gets better soon!

I have tried Mederma and it does work. You have to apply for quite some time but if you're consistent it works. It's not pretty when on though. Granted -- all I could find at the time I burned myself was the kids Medera which is purple and smells like grape.

BTW--saw the above blogger about Aquaphor. I've used that too. It's the same thing as Vaseline.

OMG! You poor thing!! I know for a fact some not so classy four-letter words would be flying out of my mouth in the middle of the night!

I hope it heals well for you!!

Oh, boo! I bet it will heal no problem, but I do think that Mederma stuff works. Luckily, you still look lovely even with a cut! :)

If you aren't allergic, tea tree oil works wonders. I've been using on it on my cuts, scrapes, and burns. No scarring at all.

That is terrible!! I hope it heals soon. Mederma does work great just give it a little time to heal on it's own before you put it on.

Oh wow, that looks so painful! I haven't tried any scar removing solutions so I have no advice to offer other than I know that sunscreen is extremely important while it's healing.

Oh no!! I had surgery on my chin not long ago and the surgeon recommended silicone scar sheets, like ScarAway. Those REALLY worked. I think Mederma, etc. work because blood circulating to the area eases scarring and, as such, rubbing a product into the scar will create blood ciculation! Good luck :)

yikes! this sounds like something i would do :)

i've used maderma for ance scars and its has worked for me. you have to apply it consistently for a while but it does the job eventually :)

I had my thyroid removed leaving a nice scar on my throat and my surgeon said Vaseline is the best option. Its the same as all of the OTC products and half the cost. You can barely see my scar anymore. I swear by it.

Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry this happened to you. This seems like such a random and painful injury! I hope you heal quickly friend!

Vitamin E oil!!!! I had a fall at camp one summer and turned my arm into hamburger... I slathered vitamin E oil on it constantly and I have no scar. I hope you heal quickly, that looks super painful! Poor girl!!!

I had melanoma on my face right above my eye... my scar is now only visible in the right light. The most important thing is to rub it a lot (once it heals, of course). I used vitamin E oil and later used mederma and I think they both did a great job keeping the area moist, but rubbing the area was the most important.

Hi, you should try arnica cream or bio oil for scaring x

This is probably too late, but I swear by vitamin E and keeping it on the wound absolutely as often as possible. I find that it helps the scab fall off faster and when that happens I can cover it with makeup faster.

So sorry about your nose!
