A new year, and a new set of books to read. Some that I aquired recently, and some that have been sitting on my shelf for a while, begging to be read.
I chose 14 books, knowing that I will likely read a couple more in there someplace. So without futher ado, they are...
January – Freedom by Jonathan Franzen
February – The Help by Katherine Stockett
March – Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson
April – The Pact by Jodi Picoult
May – Mennonite in a Little Black Dress: A Memoir of Going Home by Rhonda Janzen
June – Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin
July – Sacred Marriage by Gary L. Thomas and The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein
August – Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts
September – The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
October – Case for Christ by Lee Strobel
November – Love & Respect by Eggerichs Emerson and Last Night at Chateau Marmont by Lauren Weisberger
December – On Mystic Lake by Kristin Hannah
Many of these have been recommended me to me by friends and bloggers, and a few are by authors who's other books I've enjoyed.
Have you read any of these? Are you reading any of these books this year?

I am reading Mystic Lake right now and so far it is very good. I haven't read a lot of Kristin Hannah books but the ones I have read I have really enjoyed. I have also read The Pact. Anything by Jodi Picoult is wonderful. If you haven't read House Rules by her then it is a must read also. The Help and Girl With the Dragon Tattoo are on my "To Read" list also. I bought Girl With the Dragon Tattoo months ago and just haven't started it yet. Thanks for sharing your list! I am going to look at a few of the others you are planning on reading.
Great list! I read The Help, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and the Alchemist last year and they were all great. Although, the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo took a little while to get into, so if you find you're trudging at the beginning, just hang in there a little longer!
I plan on reading Freedom sometime this month as well - we'll have to compare notes ;)
My book club read the Help last month and everyone loved it! Looks like a great reading list! Everyone's talking about those Girl with the Dragon Tattoo books, I should really try to read those!

I have read the Help which is an awesomebook. I am trying to read Girl with the dragon tattoo but, I can't get through it. My husband and I read Sacred Marriage together and we continue to read excerpts from it over and over again. The Alchemist is one of my favorite books. I am in the middle of Roses. So far it is wonderful!

Great book list! I have read the help and enjoyed every second, couldn't put it down! I also would like to read a book a month and more if possible, definitly watch too much mindless tv lol I just finished a reliable wife, very interesting plot!
I just finished Safe Haven by N.Sparks. I've read The Alchemist many years ago.I also read all Paulo Coelho's books, until 11 minutes. This last one I didn't like, so I've never read anything else from him ; )
Going through Forgotten God again by Francis Chan. Just loved Redemming Love. Going to try and read the Shack this year. If i havent said it already. SO GLAD YOUR BACK !
I read GWTDT and The Help last year. I often put up lists of favorite books on my blog so stop on by if you are curious.
Great reading list! The Help was by far the best book I read in 2010, you will love it! The Pact and Freedom are also on my 2011 list :)
You're going to LOVE The Case for Christ and The Pact. I started Freedom this weekend and already really like it! Happy reading!
I LOVED The Help. Such a fabulous book. I also have The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo on my reading list for the year. I've been putting it off for way too long! My 2 January books I would like to read are Vanishing Acts by Jodi Picoult and Secrets She Left Behind by Diane Chamberlain.
I was kind of a late reader of The Help- just finished it at Christmas. I LOVED it! It's so interesting and hard to put down. Enjoy!
I read The Pact a few years ago - it was really good, but I couldn't pick up another book for a long time after. The story just haunted me.
ive been wanting to read the help. And they are coming out with a movie:) Miss you friend
I've read The Help and The Pact and I enjoyed both! The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is on my list for this year. I just bought it and the 2nd book for my Nook the other day because they were $5 each!
The only one I have read so far is The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. I was only going to read the first one but the trilogy is one big story and the second two are excellent as well. Loved them!
The Help has become one of my all time favorite books. I just finished The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo last night. It was kind of hard to get into, but my SILs promised it was worth it and it was. I can't wait to start the second book in the series. So, if you start it and want to put it down just give it more time. One thing that makes it hard to read is the character names since it was based in Sweden.
Great list. I read The Help, The Alchemist and TGWDT and enjoyed them all. You know my to be read list of books is a mile long but I'm looking forward to reading the Hunger Games this year.
I read Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and I wasn't too impressed. I did read the second one and thought it was good.
Loved the Alchemist. Also really liked the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo! Just finished White Noise...decent. It grew on me when I talked about it in our book club. :)
Good list! I read "Sacred Marriage" and adored it!!
I also loved the Help! I think it's just one of those really good books that people everywhere love.
I am reading Girl with the Dragon Tattoo now, and it just grabbed me yet. Not bad so far- but I'm waiting to be sucked in.
You're list is awesome though!
I read The Pact and loved it. I'm reading through the Chronicles of Narnia right now but Keeping Faith by Jodi Picoult is next on my list.
This is a great list! I enjoyed The Help and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series, although the Swedish names can be a little hard to keep up with at first.
The Pact is one of my all time favorites! Love Jodi Picoult!
