Tonight the Mr. and I are headed for our first of many mini-vacations in 2011, starting with Monterey and Santa Cruz on the Northern California coast!

Our plan is to explore the beautiful coast line, eat seafood, relax, and celebrate our friend's marriage.
Our agenda is pretty wide-open at this point, so if you have any tips on things to do or places to eat in either city, let me know!
Stay tuned for a trip recap next week!

I don't have any tips, but I hope you have a great time! I'm continuing to pray for you.
Fun!! I haven't been to Monterrey but want to. The first time I went to Santa Cruz, we met Trinity at the Crows Nest for drinks, it was fun, good views of the water. She obviously would have lots of recommendations for you. This past summer I went back with two college friends, we wandered around the boardwalk and ate fried food and rode the roller coaster, which was fun, and then had sushi at Mobu, which was good, similar to a lot of the sushi places in San Jose.

In Santa Cruz if you like dive bars check out 99 Beers or Rosie McCann's Irish Pub. For happy hour in Santa Cruz we often go to the Pier (the one cars drive on) and there is this really nice Italian restaurant towards the end of the pier where you can drink and have a beautiful view of the ocean. We got married in Monterey right on the beach and it was wonderful. Hope you have a great time!
Are you guys driving or flying? I've never been to SC but have been to Monterey. Lovely and you should totally check out Carmel and shop and eat dinner.
If you're driving -- Hearst Castle is good if you've never been.
Have fun!
Have fun!!!!!! xoxo
Sounds fun!
I'm going to be in Anaheim next month for a business conference. I know you are in Southern California but I can't remember exactly where. If you are around and close the 19-23 and would like to meet up let me know!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the new header!!! Have a great time on your mini vacation!
Love it down there. We were actually in Pacific Grove a few weekends ago. I would highly recommend the 17 mile drive if you have never done it. Also, if you are in Carmel, Little Napoli is a great Italian restaurant. Hope you have fun, the weather is supposed to be great this weekend!
I went to Monteray for work once but it was so long ago I forget what we did besides walk around the outside of the aquarium. Also, Carmel was gorgeous! Enjoy! Love the new blog look, by the way!
My brother went to college at Santa Cruz. But except when I flew out for his graduation I was never really there. I could be wrong, but I believe one of his favorite restaurants was called Pink Dragon, and I'm pretty sure it was a sushi place. Not sure how good of a top that it, but at least it's something.
And I love your new look! I love the colors, and the way it's all organized!
Love the new design!
And I can't wait to read your review. I'm going to Monterey, Big Sur, San Fran, and Napa at the beginning of May for the Big Sur marathon. My husband is running it, not me!
Let me know if there are things we really should see!
In Santa Cruz, try Shadowbrook Restaurant. Romantic, fabulous location, great food. We stopped there randomly on our last trip through and loved it. (And if you do end up trying it, let me know what you think!)
Hope y'all have a amazing trip!! I'm dying to go to the Napa Valley cuz I love wine and the vineyard hills there look beautiful! Can't wait to read how your trip went!
