Which Side is my Gas Tank on? Travel Tip Thursday Answers

This week’s travel tip has to do something that you will often encounter while traveling if you rent a car or borrow a car from a friend. But if you’re blonde like me, this may help you even in your own car at home....

It’s the question you always ask yourself when pull into the gas station. Which side is my gas tank on?

Well this little tip should help you…

I most recent cars there is a little arrow next to the little gas symbol on your dashboard like this:

(I say “most” because not ALL cars have this, but most rental cars I’ve had do, and I’ve had a lot of rental cars)

Here is the trick... when you look at this symbol, if the tip of the arrow is pointing to the left that means that the gas tank is on the left side of the car. If the arrow is pointing to the right, it means that the gas tank is on the right.

Examples:

Thise car’s gas tank is on the left side of the car:
So is this one's:

This car’s gas tank is on the right side of the car.

How cool is that? I didn’t know this trick for years!

Happy driving!

I never knew that! I would always have to look at the window. As for NY&co - I think they have them on the west coast, but maybe not as many since there is so much shopping out there. I think if you go to their website you can find locations.

I love this tip, when I got a new car last year my gas guage had this and I thought that it was just a fluke that it pointed to the gas tank side. Blonde as well :)

I don't think I've ever pulled into a gas station without looking at my arrow! If it were not there, I would always be that girl who drove up on the wrong side and tried to stretch the hose across the back of the car. haha, seriously

HEHE. I didn't know this until like a few months ago when hubby made a sarcastic remark about looking at the gas sign on the dash and see what side the tank is on.. and I made a dumbo comment that "that's not gonna help me goofy" and then he had to prove me wrong and explained it. Boy did I feel smart.
