Brain Dump - Kale, Bridesmaid Dress, Skis and More!

In March I'm going to be a bridesmaid in my soon-to-be sister-in-law's wedding. I just ordered my dress and this is what it looks like. It's really cute, but I am not 100% sure about how I feel about the bubble hem.

Last week I finally bought new skis after skiing on the same skis for nine season! I bought the K2 True Luv skis. I'm so excited to try them out in Utah next week!

I have not owned K2 skis since my FIRST pair of skis in 1988, which were K2 Mickey skis that looked like this...

In an effort to complete the never-ending name change process I finally took a new passport photo. Apparently you're not allowed to smile with teeth in passport photos anymore. Oh and he made me move my bangs to the side all wonky. So my goofy new passport picture looks like this...

This weekend I finished putting the 2010 Christmas cards in my "Christmas Card Scrapbook" that I started in 2009. I love it!

The Mr. and I just finished watching Season 4 of Dexter of Netflix. Holy intense season batman! It was as good as Season 2 and may have been the best season yet.

This living proof that our cat Judah is crazy and will literally play with anything. This is him playing with a green bean that he stole off of the counter while I was cooking dinner.

On Friday night I made Kale Chips for the first time using the Kath Eats recipe. Delish! I didn't even know that I liked kale, but I got some from our CSA so I decided to give it a try. Thanks to my tweeps, Mrs. Smith and Rachel for the help!

I finally bought a new desk chair for my home office and it's awful. It was just $30, so I guess you get what you pay for. Sigh. Does anyone know where to buy a nice but inexpensive desk chair?

That is awesome that you are eating Kale. I want to try eating kale in a smoothie or something. I am discovering I have a lot of new food sensitivities so breakfast can be challenging with no dairy.

I took a new photo too for my name change and learned about the no smiling policy too. Weird. They say it messes with the recognition system?
Also, love the Christmas card scrapbook idea! I might do that this year!
jealous of the skiing!

I never thought of Kale chips. I might give it a try.

Document pictures are always tricky. My passport pic is a good one, but the pic on my driver's license (No comments).

Ah, Season 4 of Dexter was soo good! We just finished Season 5, and it was great, but I think 4 is my favorite yet!

I had to wear that same dress for a Wedding in 2008 ( right before my own wedding). The dress was a deep red color. I...hated that dress with a passion. But I am also a size 12. I hated to sit down in the dress because it would "bubble" up in my lap and the tie around the waste was never as pretty as the woman in the picture. But I am sure you will rock that dress !!! The color is much better than the red I had to endure.

I actually like your passport photo ! Very cool !

LOVE that bridesmaids dress! It's so cute! And I want to try kale, but I'm scared... I think you've given me the courage to give it a try...

Hah I love the Mickey skis, adorable. That was quite a dump... atleast you dont look like a serial killer in your passport photos like most of the rest of us do!

I think that bridesmaid dress is cute! It's going to look great in photos. As for the passport photo, I don't think it looks bad at all!! I can't believe their not letting people smile in them anymore.

Love love the dress! I wore one like it to a wedding on NYE and the bubble hem actually was very flattering.

You look pretty in your passport picture ... but I totally agree the not smiling thing is weird! I mean, I paid (or my dad) paid a lot of money for this smile! haha

WE made kale chips recently too, and are obsessed! We graduated to the next phase and sauteed it with EVOO and garlic, plus 1/2C of water to simmer it for a bit. LOVED how it was a little more al dente than regular sauteed spinach? Give ti a try!

Also, I'm in love with my hubs' office chair from IKEA- I believe it's the Moses one? Swivel, leather, and 10 times moer comfortable than the price leads you to believe. I steal it EVERY chance I get! Totally worth braving IKEA to check out.

Hope you're doing well, my friend! xo

Your passport picture isn't bad at all! I do agree that it is awkward to not smile though. I was just at Staples and they had a lot of chairs at a reasonable price.

I actually like the bridesmaid dresses. May not be the best on everyone but it is really pretty compared to some I've seen recently.

Also your passport picture is adorable. I seriously think you look great in it.

Your passport photo is great! I had no idea you can't smile anymore, interesting.

I'm sure you'll rock the bubble hem too :)

I have GOT to get started on my Christmas card scrapbook - I have a bunch of cards just waiting!

I hear (from my sis who has a French friend), that French passport photos are extremely strict/ugly... they can't wear any makeup, their hair has to be pulled all the way back and no facial expression is allowed!

I didn't know about the new no smiling rule. I have to get a new passport since I changed my name, although I have no idea when my next international trip will be!

Too funny, my co-worker was just telling me today that I should eat Kale! I'll have to give it a try.

I think you'll look great in that dress!

My husband and I just finished Season 4 of Dexter about a week and a half ago. Wow!! We are desperate for Season 5 to come out on Netflix or DVD!! So good!

I work at home too and actually got a cute leather chair and love it. I thought I would want a rolling one, but I am so glad I got this one. It also works great if I have people over and need more seating. I wish I could describe it to you. Its pretty simple. I found it at Home Goods for $40. Good luck and don't be afraid to think outside of what you think an "office chair" is supposed to look like!

Erin said...

It looks similar to the blue chair in the middle of page 5. It makes me feel more like my office isn't so much of an "office". Comfort isn't something I compromise :) Plus it is multi-functional... even better!

You can't smile showing teeth anymore, wtf? That makes no sense to me! It's still a great picture of you but I don't get it!

I still haven't bothered to update my passport. I should probably get around to doing that one of these days...

Your post reminds me that I really need to go skiing this winter. Can you believe I live (and grew up) in Minnesota and have NEVER been downhill skiing?? That's terrible!

I can't believe you can't smile anymore! Crazy! I love your scrapbook! We keep one of our Christmas Cards too, and it makes me so happy to look back a the last year.

Ok tell me more about this scrapbook; what a cute idea! Do you just save everyone's that you get each year? I'm wondering what type of photo-sleeve would work best for that? I'm thinking it would be such a cute seasonal decoration each year to look at!

Rebecca said...

I am really interested in your Christmas Card scrapbook. I have all of mine for the last 3 or 4 yrs and would love to put them in something. Can you tell me about the photo sleeve and type book you use

I like that dress. I'm with you on the bubble hem, but I think you'll be able to pull it off!
