Coffee Table He's Coveting

Our condo is almost fully furnished! (I'll give you a house tour in the future) One key thing we're missing is a coffee table...

I'd been hunting for a glass coffee table with clean lines that doesn't look cheap or ornante. Then while we were at Crate & Barrel the Mr. spotted this table and wanted to buy it right then. I balked at the idea of a $600 acrylic coffee table and we left. However, he still wanted it.

A few weeks later I was online on CB2 and found its cheaper, sleaker cousin and it got my wheels turning...

Some pictures:

Description: This transparent new surface floats in the room without taking up permanent visual residency. Thick half-inch molded acrylic adds clean mod edge in one seamless turn.

Our living room is not huge and the furniture is already dark, so we need something clear/glassy. Our style is very clean and modern so this definitely fits that. I'm really temped to buy it!

But I'm still not sure about acrylic... Have any of seen an acrylic coffee or side table in someone's house? What do you think about this table?

Thanks! His ring is actually Tungston (sp?). We chose it b/c it's the metal that can be cut in case he ever has a hand injury...not that it will happen. =)

It looks like it would be very versatile. I love the pantry too. I went private with my blog. If you wanna be a subscriber, send an email to previousmrsb@gmail.com

I've seen acrylic furniture before - it's very very cool in person!!! Very modern, and I think it could be great if you have a dark room and want to "lighten" it up. Plus, that style is so classic.
One thing - acrylic can scratch. So I wouldn't put your feet up on it without taking off your shoes first. And it can burn too - so if something's super hot, I would use a coaster or something.
But overall it's really durable. You can ask the people at the store for their care recommendations - they should be able to tell you all that.

I'd get it - that table's really cool!!

I've never seen one like that, but I kinda like it. It would be a cool conversation starter!

Very modern, I like it. Its clean and you can draw attention to it or have it fade into the background. Its different, which makes it stand out to me.
