For me there is almost nothing better than reading a really good novel poolside or beachside. I haven't read a good novel in few months but that's about to change. One of the reasons I love blogging that I get so much wonderful advice -- even on reading!
Like when I reviewed American Wife, a bunch of you told me to pick up "Prep" by the same author. Also, I've seen on several of your blogs that you enjoyed the book "Redeeming Love".
Well, look what I got this week:
I can't wait to relax this weekend by the pool and get started on one! Which should I read first?!
Also thank you for the help with my magazine quandary. After careful condsideration I got subscriptions to:
And a trial subscription to:
One quick note: these subscription were SO cheap. The price you pay for one Redbook at the airport is almost the cost of an entire year's subscription. Crazy.
So far I like them all, but I'm really liking Women's Health a lot.
What are you reading this summer? I need more recommendations for after I plow through these books (I'm a fast reader and sometimes once I start reading I can't stop!)

Also, since I'm following up on stuff. I chose shoe #1 from this post. For a wedding where I know I'll be on feet a lot, I had to go with the shoe that was most comfortable and this one rocked the comfort test!

Finally, I wanted to send some love out to:
Chic Runner - She's my Long Beach blog buddy and is running the San Diego Rock & Roll Marathon this weekend in my hometown! So awesome!
Blue Eyed Bride - She was one the first blogs I started following back when we were both engaged and she's having her baby boy any day now! So exciting!

Thanks for the shout out! I'll try to make your hometown and our hometown now proud! :) Hooray! :)
I love to read poolside and beach side!
Looking forward to hearing how Redeeming Love is...read Prep a while back but can't remember what the story line is!
Can't wait to hear the reviews! :)
I have been putting off getting Prep for years - I really need to get it! And I love Women's Health - it's definitely my favorite out of all gazillion magazines I subscribe to (Self is #2!) Reading at the pool/beach is just the best activity ever! :)
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!!
I have read both those books, and loved them! Redeeming Love drags a little, but it's a Biblical story, so it keeps you gripped because its so inspiring and real.
Also, huge Women's Health fan! Love it! Have fun catching up on your reading!
I loved Prep. It was a great read.
All You is probably my favorite magazine. They always have great tips and recipes.
ooooh I LOVE redeeming love. such an amazing book. I read all the time too! Check out my Good Reads list at the very very bottom of my blog!!
I love recommending books (and am quite good at it if I do say so myself) so if you ever are in the mood for something specific, feel free to ask me and I will probably be able to point you in the right direction.
I suggest you check out a debut novel called Commencement that is coming out next month. It's really good and not your average chick lit:

Great Shoe Choice!! Super cute!
I read Prep and I really liked it.
Another good one to check out is Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah. It is basically about these two friends and it starts when they met in their teens and then follows them through 3 decades, it's really good so far!
I loved Prep, but I haven't read the other one. Another good set of pool reads are any of Sophia Kinsella's books. Not sure if you've read them or not, but she wrote the shopaholic books.
I have heard of Prep but haven't read it. I love the All You magazine. It always has great tips & coupons :)
Let us know how you like these! I've been looking for some new reading material, too. Cute blog, btw!
I've read Redeeming Love-- thought it was great. Recommendations: My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult and Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. The latter takes a bit of a commitment, but I was surprised by how much I liked it. And My Sister's Keeper hits theaters in June, so maybe you could beat it coming out...if you haven't already read it. Enjoy!
Oh how I like the way you think. So my speed! Enjoy. Xoxo-BLC
Exciting choices for your subscriptions. :) I also love Women's Health! "Prep" is on my to-read list - let us know how you like it!
I did the same thing with Redeeming Love...because I heard such good things about it on the blogs...I ran out and bought it but I haven't started it yet!
definite good choice on the shoes! those were my pick!!
I am behind on my blog reading and I blogged last night about needing reading suggestions and then I just read this. I LOVE Redeeming love, one of my favs!
thank you so much for the shout out-- two shout outs in two posts! :) i was away from my google reader this weekend, so i'm just now catching up.
i have Prep but haven't read it yet... i'm adding it to my HURRY UP AND READ THE BOOKS YOU ALREADY OWN list! :) Redeeming Love is my favorite book of all time. Hands down. You'll love it. Stick with it through the first couple of chapters and then you'll be hooked.
